Macomb Regional PTAC Success Story: Sawyer Services

Sawyer Services, Inc., has been a privately-held, Woman-Owned Small Business since 2009. Founded by Kim Sawyer, she has not only grown the business in the commercial sector (over the past decade), but more recently as an emerging Government Contractor in Michigan and Regionally around the U.S.

Sawyer Services began working with the Macomb Regional PTAC in January 2016. By October 2016, Sawyer Services had obtained their SBA 8(a) Certification. As an emerging 8(a) Government Contractor located in Chesterfield, Michigan, they began researching Competitive as well as Sole Source Projects utilizing BidMatch Services provided by the PTAC. Notification of these opportunities allowed Sawyer Services to extend their mission to offer Government Customers the highest standards in quality, service, craftsmanship and reliability. Sawyer Services strives to be the standard by which competitors are judged.

Since then, Sawyer Services has successfully obtained seven contracts from Selfridge ANGB and Battle Creek ANGB through actively pursuing government jobs with only a little over one year into the program!

According to President and Founder, Kim Sawyer, “For Sawyer Services, the Macomb Regional PTAC has been and continues to be an excellent resource for us to reach out to when help is needed. Sawyer Services has had PTAC support in the areas of understanding the foundation of government contracting, reading and responding to solicitations, set aside information, Cyber Security Compliance, and most of all, how to submit payment through WAWF Portal.”

In addition, not only does Sawyer Services focus their efforts in responding to and performing on both Government and Commercial contracts, they also engage in military support activities! Sawyer Services has hired a significant amount of veterans for work. Sawyer Services publicly states “We regularly send care packages to our troops in order to brighten their days and tell them that what they’re doing means the world to us.”

Through the Government Contracting education they’ve received with the help of the PTAC, Sawyer Services understands the importance of Environmentally Responsible Acquisition. Their environmental efforts go well beyond simple recycling, they take care to ensure that their installations uphold to all EPA standards.

Sawyer Services’ expertise in ensuring electrical and lighting systems are at optimum efficiency plays a large part in the overall productivity and cost of running a facility. A proactive and planned servicing of electrical and lighting system reduces total cost by lowering administration and energy costs, reducing system failures, lessening capital investment, and mitigating liability.
